Morning workshops (10am - 12noon):

Learning from Excellence (LfE)

Delegates will gain insights into the LfE initiative and use of the action research methodology - Appreciative Inquiry (AI) – that is used to capture and learn from good practice (evidenced by results from the Health Foundation funded PRAISe project). Attendees will learn the importance of positivity, respect and compassion, in maintaining a safe work environment that encourages high quality care and an improvement mind-set.

Innovation Technology Payment (ITP) Scheme and Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) - the new, the old and what we have learned

This workshop will provide attendees with an overview of the new Innovation Technology Payment schemes for 2019/2020 and the learnings from implementing previous innovations.

Digital Outpatients

How can better use of digital technology and data improve the experience and outcomes for people traditionally attending hospital outpatient appointments, and how can the NHS drive down the cost of meeting their needs? Attendees will be introduced to innovators in this area and hear how these have been adopted into the NHS. There will also be the opportunity to discuss the key themes around adoptions to support learning and sharing of good practice.

Afternoon workshops (1pm - 3pm):

SPACE (Safer Provisions and Caring Excellence): Insights and learning from a large scale care home Quality Improvement Programme

This workshop will outline successes of the SPACE project, a large scale Quality Improvement Programme, across 35 care homes in the West Midlands. Attendees will learn how SPACE can support them to reduce avoidable harms (e.g. falls, pressure ulcers, UTI’s), and develop a culture of continuous improvement.

West Midlands Social Care Digital and Data Enabled Collaborative

An introduction to the West Midlands Social Care Digital and Data Enabled Collaborative, attendees will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of health and care challenges through a social care lens. This will help create opportunities in developing a culture of innovation which supports and drives health improvement, increasing levels of wellbeing through creative use of scalable use of technological innovations, that strengthens the emphasis on placed based assets.

Understanding how and why the NHS adopts innovation

This interactive session will share research findings and case studies, aiding understanding of adoption and the enabling factors which support the uptake and embedding of innovation in the NHS, alongside top tips for innovators and adopter sites.

This workshop will primarily be most useful for NHS staff interested in the sustainable uptake and implementation of evidence-based innovations to solve challenges and benefit staff and patients across their NHS site.

It will also be of relevance to innovators and entrepreneurs looking to embed their innovations in the NHS.
