About this Event

ABOUT THIS EVENT

This Mastermind is aimed at members who are in the Development and Startup phases of their business, particularly those who run service-based business and are in business on their own (a.k.a. “solopreneurs”).

Held every month, the Mastermind is a peer-to-peer group coaching circle run under the guidance of a coach, to help you generate ideas and problem-solve issues around your business.

What is brought to the session will depend on what is happening for you and your business, but examples of challenges bought to masterminds can include: how to maintain momentum, getting clarity on the best way forward for client attraction, how to manage your energy when it’s just you in business, and how to regroup when it feels like things just aren’t working.

From the Mastermind, you will gain:

Support – Being in business can feel lonely at times, especially if you are a “one-woman band”.

Shifts in thinking – Einstein is reported to have said, “You can’t solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it”. Everyone in the Mastermind will have a different perspective on your challenge and varying experiences in their own businesses, helping you to unlock possibilities that may never have crossed your mind.

Sharing – The Mastermind is a great place to pool resources and share contacts.

Development of New Skills – In the group, everyone will be a coach. Those of you who aren’t coaches or therapists will learn new ways of listening and asking questions, as well as how to offer suggestions on ways forward.

The Mastermind follows an Active Learning format which briefly goes as follows:

  • The “hot seated” member shares her challenge with the group
  • The group asks clarifying questions to find out more about the challenge and then each member offers suggestions for moving forward.
  • The member in the hot-seat then reflects on the suggestions given and discusses which action she’ll take next.

Further guidance may be done as part of this stage by the lead coach or other group members if the hot-seated member is finding it hard to decide on a way forward. Each round of masterminding will take approximately 25 minutes, giving time for at least 3 members to be hot-seated each time.

This is a great event to attend even if you feel you don’t have a topic to be hot-seated on. Your individuality and experience will make you a great asset to the group. Plus, you never know, another member may raise a challenge that you end up getting great learning from!

You will be sent a guide ahead of time so you can learn how to ask coaching questions before the event.

No prior experience of coaching is necessary so if this is new to you, it’s a great opportunity to learn a new, and valuable skill.

Running order

18:00 – Welcome and Housekeeping

18:05 - 18:15 – Recap on Running Order and How to ask open questions

18:15 - 18:40 – Mastermind Round 1

18:40 – 19:05 – Mastermind Round 2

19:05 – 19:30 – Mastermind Round 3

19:30 - 19:35 - Reflections on what you’ve learned from the session and finish.

Each month we’ll have time for 3 members to bring challenges so don’t worry if you feel that you don’t have a challenge to share. You will still be a valuable member of the group from the viewpoint you bring.

OUR HOST, SARAH WALSH

Sarah is from London and has a rich and varied career history. Her first degree was a Bachelors’ in Internet Computing, but she knew before graduating that working in computing wouldn’t be people focussed enough for her. After a short stint working in IT, a year in Japan teaching English and another short stint freelancing in IT projects in the NHS, she got involved in Special Educational Needs support with teenagers. While in this role, she retrained with a Masters’ in Psychology. She was inspired to follow this with a Diploma in Transformational Coaching, after experiencing the power of coaching firsthand which enabled her to achieve things she previously thought impossible. She now uses her skills to help other women do the same.
