Merrist Wood Animal Zoo Training Workshop
Event Information
Description
Animal training specifically for husbandry is an evolving science that is being applied within a wider range of animal collections in the UK. The Animal Management Centre at Merrist Wood is proud to be hosting a training workshop led by renowned and inspirational animal trainer Peter Giljam, owner and writer of zoospensefull and currently
working as Animal Training Director at Kolmarden Djurpark, Sweden and supported by Jim Mackie from ZSL, London Zoo. Peter and Jim will be sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience with a range of species and applying it to our workshop aimed at current zoo keepers and students looking to pursue a career in this exciting and progressive sector of the industry. There will be opportunities on the second day of the workshop to observe animal presentations at Chessington World of Adventures, who are also hosting a specific evening presentation showcasing training methodology and behaviours that enhance the husbandry of a range of species. Lunch and refreshments on both days are included in the price, as is the coach to and from Chessington. Limited tickets are available for this event. We do have a couple of student accommodation rooms available on a first come first served basis - email mwevents@guildford.ac.uk for more information.
