SAFESTRIP is back with an interactive online final event! Join us on 20 July, witness LIVE demonstrations in streaming directly from the pilot site in Athens.

SAFE STRIP has developed an innovative technological solution enabling C-ITS applications through low-cost integrated smart strips on existing road infrastructure (optional). After almost three years of work and several pilot trials on European roads, the SAFE STRIP partners are inviting you for a day of exciting showcases followed by a high-level panel discussion with project participants, public authorities and road operators. The participants will also have the opportunity to see a demo at the Attiki Odos highway – SAFE STRIP’s Greek pilot site in virtual mode.

Organizer SAFE STRIP

Organizer of Messages from the road for a safer and smarter future

SAFE STRIP (SAFE and green Sensor Technologies for self-explaining and forgiving Road Interactive aPplications; Grant Agreement: 723211) is a three-year H2020 project launched on 1 May 2017.

SAFE STRIP aims to introduce ground-breaking technology that will embed C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems) applications in existing road infrastructure, including novel I2V (Infrastructure to Vehicle) and V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure), as well as VMS (Variable Message Sign) / VSL (Variable Speed Limit) functions into low-cost, integrated strip markers on the road. The vision is to make roads self-explanatory (with personalised in-vehicle messages) and forgiving (due to advanced cooperative functions) for all road users, such as trucks, cars and vulnerable road users (i.e. Powered Two Wheeler) and all vehicle generations (non-equipped, C-ITS equipped, autonomous), with reduced maintenance cost, full recyclability and added value services, as well as supporting real-time predictive road maintenance functions.

The 18-partner Consortium led by ERTICO comprises 2 OEM’s (CRF & Piaggio), 2 system and infrastructure integrators (SWARCO & CEA), 2 Tier 1 suppliers (CONTI & Valeo), 1 SME (RELAB), 8 sensors, algorithms and interfaces developing Institutes (CERTH, UNITN, UPAT, FhG/IAO, CNR, CIDAUT, CTI and ICCS) and 2 end users (ATTD and Α22 highways in Greece and Italy respectively).
