This 4 week evening course introduces approaches and techniques used within fine metalwork. It explores how to work with a variety of metals, ferrous (e.g: steel) and non-ferrous (e.g: copper, silver), and how the property of the metal affects your design decisions. Over four evenings, the course will introduce you to brazing, soldering and welding to combine different metals together.
It will also teach you how to join metals together mechanically by means of threading, tapping & riveting, and how to cut, fold, roll, drill and shape small pieces of metal both sheet & section. You’ll learn to be a whizz with aviation snips, sheet metal rollers, folders, heating torches, pillar drills, metal benders, stakes, anvils and hand tools, ready to start making your ideas into reality. During the course you’ll design & make a small box using at least 3 of the methods learnt.
Please note that refunds and/or changes to ticket date are available up to 7 days before course start date.
