This 4 week evening course introduces approaches and techniques used within fine metalwork. There will be explanations of various metals and their everyday uses in our environment, and how the property of metal affects design decisions.
Following this, you will then explore how to work with copper – chosen for it’s ease of workability – to make a simple cup. We will use tools to form the edges into curves, then cut out a circular bottom and bend the handle, prior to brazing the components together. Once completed, we will then polish the cup which will help the enhance the copper and optional decoration can be added if desired.
This course will be led by our Workshop Manager Rob Fawcett, who will pass on over 30 years experience of accomplished designing, engineering and good old fashioned making.
