Event description
A talk with Nick Busby, Usk Astronomical Society

About this event

Imagine you could travel back in time to the birth of the Sun and planets, just think what amazing discoveries could be made. It is not as far fetched as it sounds, meteorites - pieces of rock that have fallen to Earth from outer space - provide us with pristine samples from that ancient time. This talk, illustrated with actual meteorites from the extensive collection of the Usk Astronomical Society, will reveal at how the solar system was formed, explain why we are made of stardust and provide some surprising facts about the origin of some familiar materials.

Picture is of an Argentinian meteorite in the Usk collection called Camp Del Cielo.
