What to Expect
Join us at River Park, Levenmouth, for an open day that brings archaeology to life. Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at the ongoing excavation of Methil Mill, a historic watermill on the banks of the River Leven believed to date back to the 18th century. You’ll see how archaeologists and volunteers uncover, record, and interpret the site, and even get the chance to handle some of the artefacts they’ve discovered. For younger visitors there will be some hands on fun crafts to do as well. Sign up here and drop in when you like!
Discovering Methil Mill
The Methil Mill dig is revealing fascinating clues about the area’s industrial past. The excavation aims to uncover how the mill was built, how it worked, and the part it played in the Levenmouth community. This is one of the last surviving traces of milling in Levenmouth, making it a rare and valuable opportunity to explore a piece of shared heritage.

Additional information
The River Park is a mown grass greenspace that may be uneven under foot. Access to the Park is either from the footpath near Cameron Bridge Station, down a grass slope from the pavement on Poplar Road, or across Duniface Bridge. Please note that these surfaces may not be suitable for all mobility needs.
Activities will be taking place outdoors, please dress for the weather.
Please note that there are no public toilets in The River Park.
We encourage you to travel by foot or wheels where possible. If travelling by car, there is on-street parking nearby, please park with consideration. The nearest train station is Cameron Bridge.
