Special Exhibition: 150 Years of The Crime Museum
The next exhibition at the Police Museum will mark 150 years of The Crime Museum. To acknowledge the anniversary and for only the second time this century, we are inviting you in to see exhibits from the Crime Museum collection.
They tell the stories of the famous and innovative cases investigated by the Metropolitan Police including the Great Train Robbery, the first murder conviction using a fingerprint, the cases of Dr Crippen and John Christie, and the Brides in the Bath murders and how justice for victims has always been at the centre of Met investigations.
Although carefully chosen for display, the material contained in the Museum relates to the history of policing and crime and includes material not suitable for children. We therefore do not admit guests under the age of 16 years old.
Please note, this is NOT The Crime Museum at New Scotland Yard, which remains closed to the public.
What you need to know
· The exhibition is open to members of the public aged 16+ ONLY.
· It is being held at Marlowe House in Sidcup until 2 April 2026.
· Tours last 90 minutes.
· Maximum of two tickets per booking - if you wish to make a booking for a larger group (3-15 people if spaces are available), email policemuseum@met.police.uk with the names of all visitors and the date and time you would like a tour.
· Bookings are non-transferrable. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please cancel your booking as soon as possible to enable others to visit.
· Please arrive no earlier than ten minutes before your tour as our building only has a small waiting area. Please email or phone us if you are running late - we unfortunately cannot guarantee admission for late comers.
· If you have any access requirements, we ask if you can kindly email policemuseum@met.police.uk in advance so that we can best facilitate your visit.
· Photo ID for those who are not Met officers or Met staff (drivers license/passport) will be required for each person on the day for security purposes, so we kindly ask to bring this with you.
· Met officers and Met staff will be required to wear their work ID openly throughout their visit - please don't forget your lanyard!
How to book
· Access to the exhibition is via a pre booked guided tour only. Anyone without a booking will be denied access.
Please read the below instructions carefully to ensure your booking is made correctly. Incomplete and incorrect details could mean your booking being cancelled.
· The main booking form questions will appear after you have selected your chosen date and have been through the ticket 'Check Out' process. If you do not complete ALL of these details, we respectfully reserve the right to cancel your ticket.
· You MUST complete the booking form in full in order to confirm your eligibility for the session, including separate names for every attendee. We require the first and last names of ALL attendees when making a booking in order to ensure that access via security is granted. If these are not disclosed, then your booking will be cancelled. If you repeat the same name twice, or put incomplete names your booking will also be cancelled.
· It is also important to ensure that you provide a mobile number in the booking form so that we can contact your party on the day of the tour if required. This is in case we need to inform you of any last minute changes, transport issues or contact you in the event of an unforeseen cancellation.
· Bookings will close 48 hours before the day of the tour. If you haven’t notified us of all contact or guest details at least 48 hours before your visit when making a booking, your ticket will be cancelled and you will be refused entry. Therefore please ensure that the booking form is filled out correctly with all of the information required for each guest.
· Please note that you will not be issued with, or need a printable or digital ticket to take with you on the day. However please be assured that we will have your name on our registration list. We must inform again, that anybody without a booking and is not on this list will be denied access.
If you are an MPS employee booking via a private email address.
Please let us know straight after booking on policemuseum@met.police.uk if you and any of your party are MPS employees so that we know not to create a visitors pass for you. However, you MUST bring your MPS work ID and Lanyard with you to gain entry on the day, and will be required to wear it at all times whilst in the building. Also specify clearly if any of your party are NOT MPS employees as they will need to bring photo ID before being issued with a visitors pass and will need to be accompanied at all times once in the building.
