Join Manchester Girl Geeks and guests from the University of Manchester's Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine
, for a repeat of our walking tour of Manchester's city centre
featuring stories of Manchester's scientific women. As part of Manchster Histories Festival
, learn about the contributions women have made to science in Manchester and around the world, and hear the stories of well-known (and less well-known) science heroes from Manchester.
Join us on a journey around the city centre for the afternoon - and stick around afterwards for a cup of tea and some cake. We'll be leaving from the Manchester Art Gallery (just inside the foyer) at 2pm, and walking through town and down towards the university, finishing at 4pm, when you'll be able to get a drink and we'll share some cakes in a nearby cafe.
PLEASE NOTE: if you came to our earlier Walking Tour event in March, this will be basically the same talks on roughly the same route - but if you know anyone else you think would enjoy it, please send them the details!
The route is around 2-3km in total, and we'll be taking it pretty slow, with plenty of stops. All the locations we visit will be accessible, and we'll arrange for a guide to take you back up into the city centre if needed afterwards - buses back cost £1.
Ticket cost includes a booklet to keep, a few exciting gifts, and refreshments at the end of the walk.
