Promoting Equality & Diversity and Safeguarding for Teachers
Course Reference: EDS915
Who should attend:
Teachers and trainers who are responsible for the physical and emotional development of their learners.
About the course
The importance of safeguarding the physical and emotional wellbeing of our learners, and in supporting their moral, spiritual and cultural development, is a key focus of the Ofsted Common Inspection Framework Sept 15, and a reflection of the ever changing national and global society in which educationalists operate.
“teaching, learning and assessment promote equality, raise awareness of diversity and tackle discrimination, victimisation, harassment, stereotyping, radicalisation and bullying”
The accountability for a safe and supportive learning environment lies with all teachers, trainers and support workers, and is embedded at all levels within the organisation. Just as all providers have a safeguarding duty, from 1 July 2015 they also have a Prevent Duty – “the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”.
This one day session will;
- Identify and define the responsibilities for teachers and trainers for safeguarding and equality and diversity and the current legal and procedural obligations
- Compare these to the CIF grade descriptors for Teaching, Learning and Assessment and for Personal development, behaviour and welfare
- Design strategies to ensure and enhance the support for learners’ individual needs, and their spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development
