Michael Morpurgo: Annual Creative Writing Lecture

Multi-award-winning author, Michael Morpurgo, will deliver the University of Leicester’s 2017 Annual Creative Writing Lecture. One of Britain’s most loved writers, he is best known for his children’s novels, including Toro! Toro! (2001); War Horse (1982), which became an internationally celebrated film and theatre play; plus his latest book, The Fox and the Ghost King (2016), all about Leicester, Richard III and a certain footballing success. He is a former children’s laureate and renowned storyteller.
The Annual Creative Writing Lecture is presented to you by Literary Leicester and the Centre for New Writing. It is made possible through a kind donation from Santander Universities UK.

What are my parking options for the event?
Leicester has an extensive network of public transport services to and from the city, and we would therefore encourage you to use public transport where possible.
There is limited on-street pay and display parking along Lancaster Road, and after 5pm you may find free parking in the car park opposite the venue, the Maurice Shock Medical Sciences Building. An additional free University car park is available after 5pm on Welford Road (near the University Road junction) and is approx. 20 mins walk from the venue. The nearest public car park is located on Granville Road and is approx. 10 mins walk from the venue.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
You can bring your printed ticket or you can simply show your ticket on a device such as a mobile phone or tablet.
Will there be refreshments available at the venue?
There is a cafe directly next to the lecture theatre that sells a range of hot or cold drinks and snacks. It will remain open until 8pm.
