Event description

Description

The Flaming Blackhearts are Michelle McManus, Steve Caban and Tim Black.

The talented trio have been performing together for a number of years with their unique blend of Americana, Country and Blues heard through a mixture of brand new songs and quirky covers.

Michelle is possibly best known as the winner of the second and final series of UK talent show Pop Idol in 2003.

Michelle's debut single, "All This Time", entered the UK Singles Chart at number one in January 2004. Her album, The Meaning of Love, was released in February 2004 and debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart.

In 2009-11, McManus was co-presenter of STV's lifestyle magazine show The Hour, originally alongside Stephen Jardine and, later, Tam Cowan. She is also a columnist for the Glasgow Evening Times. In 2018, McManus joined the Loose Women panel as a guest panelist.

"It’s undeniable that McManus is a spectacular powerhouse in the vocals department, and she sure knows how to work a room. The audience are eating out the palm of her hand from the second she appears on stage, til the moment she departs."

Jo Mango (Support)

Jo Mango is a Glasgow based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She has performed all over the world – including the Carnegie Hall in New York, South By South West festival in Texas, numerous tours in Japan as well as Canada, Europe and Australia.

Jo has collaborated on performances with David Byrne, Eddi Reader, Devendra Banhart, Roddy Woomble, Midge Ure and many others. Her co-writing includes notable collaborations with Scottish bands such as Teenage Fanclub (Baby Lee) and Admiral Fallow (The Beetle in the Box). Her second album Murmuration was released in 2012 to great acclaim. It featured unique selections from Jo’s eclectic musical instrument collection (kalimbas, harmoniums, omnichords and musical saws) and combined inspiration from her adventures travelling the world as a member of Vashti Bunyan’s band with her experiences in becoming a Doctor of Musicology.

“Immensely charming” – The Times

“I knew instantly it was the most beautiful thing I’d hear all year.” – The Herald

“In the crowded field of contemporary folk, Murmuration is the living, breathing proof that Jo Mango is standing that bit taller than the rest.” The Skinny
