This is a half day seminar investigating the way that arts and creative activity can be used to engage people with dementia and improve their health and well being. It includes a focus on specific case studies - Storybox (Storytelling) and th Valuing Older People Cultural Offer, as well as Equal Arts, from Gateshead.
Manchester Interdisciplinary Collaboration for Research on Ageing (MICRA) is a research network promoting interdisciplinary and innovative research on all aspects of ageing across the University of Manchester and beyond. MICRA members - currently around 800 members - receive an e-mailing detailing ageing research related events and activities. The Storybox Project is a ground breaking project designed for people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia run by Manchester Library Theatre. In 2012 they received funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation to develop and deliver creative storytelling workshops in a variety of settings for the next three years. http://www.librarytheatre.com/project/storybox
