Dr. Rosie Baruah

Rosie Baruah is a consultant in Critical Care and Anaesthesia at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. Her interests include neurocritical care, point of care ultrasound, and gender in medicine. She was chair of the Women in Intensive Care Medicine (WICM) group, a subcommittee of the FICM Career, Recruitment and Workforce Committee from 2017-2020, and stood down from this role to undertake a PhD at the Usher institute, University of Edinburgh to examine the gender balance within intensive care medicine in the UK. She is a FUSIC (Focused Ultrasound in Intensive Care Medicine) supervisor and mentor.

Allyship and ethical EDI

Dr. Xander Stephenson-Allen

Dr. Xander Stephenson-Allen is a Core Surgical Trainee in KSS, and a founding member of the Pride in Surgery Forum, representing LGBTQ+ surgeons at the Royal College of Surgeons England, where they held their inaugural conference Out @ The College earlier this year. Xander came to medicine later in life, and previously worked in health advocacy for queer and other marginalised communities in London with Spectra.
