What an attendee said: "Bridget delivered a high-quality, evidence-based, fascinating day with many "I didn't know that!" moments... This is a public health topic with important implications from preconception, late pregnancy, birth, through to the first three years of life and beyond. It definitely fits within the remit of the first 1,000 days, as this is a crucial period for the development of the microbiome. It's not just about seeding at planned c-sections. There is so much more to it than that......[we] should be educating parents-to-be and health professionals about the microbiome. Much like place of birth, birth pool use, and optimal cord clamping, it's something that parents-to-be may not know about unless we raise their awareness of what it is and what they can do to help their baby off to a good microbiological start. It's the sort of topic that, much like the examples I've just given, is very likely to become mainstream in the future'
