This intensive half term online school

Is perfect for:

• Students aged 8-12 with an interest in Creative Coding and Music.
• Parents or teachers eager to learn and share.
• Anyone new to programming, looking for an introduction to this magic world.
• We are having a lot of fun designing this course, jump aboard!

Outcomes:

• The basics of block coding on Makecode.com
• Sensors: light, temperature, accelerometer, etc.
• Variables, Ifs, Arrays, etc.
• MIDI programming - the Micro:Bit becomes an instrument.
• Create your own song, online, for free, on BandLab.
• NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED.

When?

5 progressive lessons: Half term October 26th to October 30th

3pm, each day, for 90'

Certificate

If you complete all tasks, successfully and creatively, you will receive the Conductive Music Level 1 certification.

The tutors:

• Dr. Enrico Bertelli, with a PhD in Performance and Technology. has taught over 2,450 workshops, and is visiting professor in 50 Universities across the UK, Spain, Hong Kong, Thailand and Japan.
• Dr. Yui Shikakura, PhD in Music Education has taught 550+ workshops and is visiting lecturer in 20 Universities. She's a Tech and Japanese traditional music specialist.
• Dr. Jack White, PhD in composition, internationally renown composer, with a strong interest in technology, avid coder. Has taught 800 workshops and 500+ students worldwide.

You will need:

• Your own BBC Micro:bit - contact us if you need assistance in purchasing.
• Computer or tablet (easier if you have an external screen/TV).
• Updated Chrome browser and Zoom app.
• A set of crocodile clips (6, ideally).
• Remember to keep your Webcam OFF and your Microphone OFF.
