Microscopes: Choosing and using for natural history with Brian Eversham

Many aspects of natural history benefit from using a microscope: low-power stereo microscopes for insects, flowers or mosses; high-power compound microscopes for fungal spores, lichen fruits and the world of freshwater microscopical life from amoebae to rotifers and tardigrades. But many naturalists seem daunted by them.

This workshop will briefly explore the history of microscopes and the different kinds, look at simple ways to prepare specimens, and give participants hands-on experience with a range of instruments. Participants are welcome to bring their own microscopes to get help in setting up and using them
