About this event

This engaging online course, delivered over three sessions, is perfect for those who have mastered the basics of Excel and are keen to advance their skills. You will learn to present, manipulate, and analyse data more effectively, enhancing your workplace efficiency and productivity. You will also develop valuable analytical and reporting techniques that will benefit you personally, as well as current and future employers.

Format: Online using MS Teams, trainer-led

Duration: 3 sessions each lasting 2 hours (total of 6 hours). A 30 minute Excel Q&A on course content will also be offered immediately after each session finishes.

Prerequisites:

  • A computer with Microsoft Excel installed and a stable internet connection for live online sessions.
  • Computer literacy: Learners should be comfortable with general computer operations. This includes navigating the operating system, launching applications, opening and saving files from emails and using Microsoft Teams.

In Excel, learners should understand the following:

  • Creating and saving workbooks, and navigating worksheets
  • Basic Data Entry Skills: Learners must be comfortable at entering, editing, and deleting data within worksheets. This includes knowledge of cell selection, copying, pasting, cutting, and using undo/redo features.
  • Formatting Basics: Participants should be able to apply basic formatting to cells, columns, and rows. This encompasses changing font styles, sizes, and colours; adjusting cell alignment; applying borders and shading;
  • Basic Formula Knowledge: Users should understand how to create and edit simple maths calculations in Excel. Familiarity with basic functions such as SUM is beneficial but not essential.

Is this intermediate Excel course suitable for me?

Learners should be familiar with 1.Creating/saving Excel files. 2.Basic data entry including entering, editing, deleting data. 3.Basic formatting using the Home Menu. 4.Basic formulas including maths calculations. Familiarity with basic functions such as SUM beneficial but not essential.

Is an online course suitable for me?

As an online course, learners should have a stable internet connection and feel comfortable connecting to each session via Microsoft Teams. Learner should also be able to save and open training files received via email in order to participate in session activities.

What is the maximum class size?

Our courses are limited to a maximum of 8 learners.

Why do you deliver your courses over 3 x 2 hour sessions rather than 1 full day?

This bite-size approach gives you time to reflect on the content of each session and ask us questions. Additionally, we will recap at the start of each new session to reinforce learning, ensuring you leave our course feeling more confident in the material. This is not possible on a 1 day course.
