What is Mid-Autumn Festival?
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the most important traditional celebrations in China. It takes place on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, when the moon is believed to be at its fullest and brightest. Families gather to enjoy the moonlight, share food, and celebrate togetherness, harmony, and good fortune.
What are mooncakes, and why are they eaten at this festival?
Mooncakes are traditional Chinese pastries with rich fillings such as lotus seed paste or red bean paste, often with a salted egg yolk inside. They are eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival as a symbol of reunion, harmony, and good fortune, reflecting the full moon that brings families together. 🌕🥮
