Event description
St Helena Hospice's Midnight Walk is back – but with a twist as we’re making it a Midday Walk!

About this Event

As with most events due to take place this year, we’ve had to rethink our 80s themed mass participation Midnight Walk and we hope to still bring the retro fun to you in 2021.

So instead, for 2020, we’re turning the Midnight Walk into a virtual Midday Walk!

The date remains the same – Saturday 12th September – and you can still choose to walk either 4.5 or 9 miles, but the difference is, you choose where to complete your walk: whether that’s outside around your local area or park; in your garden; up your stairs; on the treadmill; or even at the beach!

Ideally, everyone who’s signed up will start their walk at midday – 12pm – and we will have a video warm-up for you to follow before you set off, as well as some other treats and surprises before and after the event.

Unlike our usual Midnight Walk, there is no age limit for this event because it takes place during the day, so the whole household can get involved! Just make sure you adhere to all Government guidelines when you do your walk.

Will you join the Midday Walk and raise as much money as you can to support our patients and families?

Right now, we need your help more than ever. We’re losing a considerable amount of income as we’re not able to hold our usual events or fundraise in the ways we used to, so the money raised from the Midday Walk is even more important now.

Entry is £10 (+fees) for individual's aged 11 and over and includes:

  • A T-shirt*
  • A digital welcome pack which will be emailed to you (make sure you add news@sthelena.org.uk to your safe senders list or we might end up in your junk folder!)
  • A poster for you to print and display in your window telling everyone you’re signed up for the Midday Walk
  • A fun warm-up video to get you ready for your walk
  • An exclusive Midday Walk completion token
  • And more!

*Please note these T-shirts are adult sizes, so please bear that in mind when choosing the sizes for your children aged 11 and over

Entry is £5 for children aged 5-11 and includes:

  • A digital welcome pack which will be emailed to the parent or guardian walking with you
  • A poster for you to print and display in your window telling everyone you’re signed up for the Midday Walk
  • A fun warm-up video to get you ready for your walk
  • An exclusive Midday Walk completion token
  • And more!

Entry is free for under 5’s and they will receive a certificate for completion.

The Midday Walk is kindly sponsored by Birkett Long.

Please read the terms and conditions below. Please note, these T&Cs are subject to change as Government guidelines change, and we will contact you with the new guidance, should anything change.

Your ticket fee only covers the cost of us putting on a safe and fun event so we rely on your fundraising to help us raise the vital funds we need to help local people face incurable illness and bereavement. By raising as much money as you can through sponsorship and donations, you will be helping our patients and their families to make every memory matter.

  • If you're signing up other adults, please ensure you include their personal details including their email and postal addresses, so we can send them the digital welcome pack and important communications for on the day of the event, as well as their medal after the event
  • Please read the terms and conditions below

How do you know I really did 4.5 or 9 miles? We don’t. But we trust you - that’s what community is all about.

You can track your route on Strava and connect this to JustGiving if you want to prove you completed your distance. Find out how to do this at sthelena.org.uk/middaywalk2020

How do I fundraise/raise sponsorship? You need to set up an online fundraising page. If you are taking part in memory of a loved one you can set-up a Timeless Tribute fund at sthelena.org.uk/timelesstributes

Get your most generous friends to donate first! People are strongly influenced by how much everyone else gives so if your first donation is a high one, other friends are likely to do the same.

Personalise your page. If St Helena Hospice means a lot to you personally, make sure you put this into words on your page. Or focus on the challenge itself – walking 4.5 or 9 miles on a treadmill, around your garden or through your town or village is no mean feat! If you are raising money in honour of someone, use their photo on your page.
