Description

Introduction

The GP IT Futures programme is a critical enabler for taking primary care towards the requirements set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, Local Health and Care Records, five year framework for GP contract reform and the Digital, Data and Technology Vision. Whilst delivering safe, resilient and functionally rich clinical GP systems, the most important and urgent change is to ensure that patients and the NHS can safely and securely access and share primary care data in real-time. This data connects patient care across care settings. It provides the insight to allow the NHS to be more efficient. It enables progress in medical research.

A new GP IT Futures framework, the first framework from the new Digital Care Services model, will replace the contractual framework GP System of Choice (GPSoC), to supply IT systems and services to GP practices and associated organisations in England.

There is a complimentary event taking place at the Jurys Inn Birmingham, 245 Broad Street, B1 2HQ on the 9th October. This is focussing on the Finance, Cyber Security and GP Connect elements.

Purpose of the Day

The day is intended to give an overview of GP IT futures programme of work. Outline some of the opportunities that exist for a regional approach and pose a number of ‘wicked’ questions to each of the supplier both new and incumbent.

Throughout the day there will be opportunities to speak with other organisations across the Midlands, explore challenges and requirements of systems and consider collaborative approaches to move forwards.

As there will be a number of breakout sessions during the day, we would recommend that your organization may wish to send multiple delegates to join the various discussion themes.

There is the potential for the region to view GP IT futures as more than a procurement exercise, to utilize this for regional strategic alignment, support for the Long Term Plan and regional record sharing as well as driving financial gains and greater supplier accountability.
