About this event

Charity & Causes • Poverty

Join us for a creative and community-led banner making session ahead of the Scotland Demands Better march, rallying for better jobs, services, and social security.

This free event is a chance to come together, get creative, and chat about how these national demands connect to local issues in Midlothian.

Hosted in collaboration with the Midlothian Climate Action Network, this session is open to anyone living/working in Midlothian and eager to get involved – charities, community groups, volunteers, staff etc.

Materials will be provided – but please bring cardboard or other reusable materials if you can, to keep things sustainable.

We want to make sure the voices of Midlothian’s communities are heard. What would ‘better’ mean for Midlothian? What do you demand?

Scotland Demands Better March

Change for the better happens when people stand together and demand it. Scotland Demands Better is the march for all of us. It is our chance to come together and demand that politicians make the changes we need for a society where every household can thrive and prosper.

The non‑partisan march and rally will be held in Edinburgh on Saturday 25 October, assembling from 10am at the Scottish Parliament, proceeding along the Royal Mile to George IV Bridge and concluding at The Meadows with a rally involving music, speeches, stalls and workshops.

Visit the Scotland Demands Better to learn more.

Accessibility

One Dalkeith is step free and has an accessible bathroom. The website for One Dalkeith has photos of these rooms.

The rooms have natural light but some bright overhead lighting as well. There will be chatting noise from talking and eating, but there shouldn't be any other noisy groups in the building at the time.

Travel

The entrance is at the side of the One Dalkeith building, off Lothian Street. This is round the corner on the left hand side from the Cornershop Collective.

One Dalkeith is situated next to the South Street, Jarnac Court, and Buccleuch Street bus stops. The venue is accessible via the 3, 46, 48, 139, 140, 141, and 51 bus routes.

There is not reliable parking in the car park directly behind the venue, however there is free car parking at the bowling club nearby, or around King's Park.
