Event description

Description

Join ELL & community herbalist Rasheeqa (Hedge Herbs) for a Saturday morning wander around the varied plant-scapes of Finsbury Park, exploring the health-supporting actions, uses and preparations of the medicinal herbs, flowers, shrubs and trees we find. Sharing knowledge about history, folklore, current research and practical applications in herbal medicine, we shall open the world of our local healing cabinets.

We’ll conclude the session with tastings of fresh-gathered seasonal plants made into infusions to experience the plants sensorily in our own bodies.

Trainer: Rasheeqa Ahmad is a community herbalist based in east London with 5 years’ experience of facilitating group learning and teaching short and long courses in herbal medicine. She is passionate about collaborative and participatory herbalism in the community with a focus on sharing and exchanging healing traditions between the diverse cultures and knowledge of London. She is currently initiating a community apothecary project in Walthamstow - Community Herbal Hands - which seeks to develop networks of medicinal plant cultivation, harvesting, preparing, knowledge-sharing and use for health and wellbeing support in our neighbourhoods.

(Edible Landscapes is in Finsbury Park itself. Enter Finsbury Park by the Manor House entrance and turn right. Follow the metal fence round, past the entrance to the greenhouse area, until you find the new entrance gate)
