About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

A double bill of Edwardian horror by the prolific writer E.F. Benson.

In 'Monkeys', an innovative surgeon justifies vivisection by the good it does for humanity, and experiments on a monkey with spinal injury. Later on, accompanying a friend to Egypt, he sees a mummy of an individual who had undergone a similar operation, and with better results, living for many years after. His fascination leads him to make the biggest mistake of his life.

'The Dust Cloud' is unusual ghost story as, rather than any common-or-garden horrifying specter or phantom, but rather the tale of a tragic accident, and the appearance of a ghostly motor car.

Presented live online (or watch later), direct to your computer, phone or smart TV.

Ages: Adult and teens (12+)

"My friends and I saw Jason in Leamington last night and I was absolutely blown away. It was my first time at one of his events and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I can't recommend these events enough." Erika, Warwickshire
"Jason Buck is a man made of myth, magic and mead. His stories are filled with adventure, his beard is full of unexpected twists and his tankard filled with a poet's brew. Sit around the fire and listen to his tales - you won't be disappointed." Abbie, Strange Times Storytelling Club

Drawing on traditional favourites and introducing new ideas, Jason's stories are told in the oldest and best ways – as live performances, for modern audiences and he has performed across the UK and mainland Europe, blending traditional and contemporary motifs, vocal sound effects and pure, unadulterated fantasy.Jason has been a performer most of his adult life, including cabaret and comedy, but his passion lies in stories - ‘there's nothing like getting lost in a story, the pictures in your head are better than film’.Jason has written and published four collections of his own stories, won silver at the last ‘Grand Annual Lying Festival’ and 'Best Bard' at Profound Decisions' 'Theatre of Joy and Sorrow'. He is also a member of the Society for Storytelling, a skilled celebrant for weddings / handfasting, namings and funerals and a member of the UK Society of Celebrants.Jason now lives in Leamington Spa with his family: Partner Kim, son Oskar, and Percy the cat.
