Event description

Description

Is a refused asylum seeker entitled to social care? What health rights does a person with Indefinite Leave to Remain have? And do rights on paper guarantee service in practice?

Knowing the rights of our migrant, refugee and asylum seeking communities is a vital first step to providing thorough support. Yet complex regulations with frequent changes make this a challenge for everyone working in the public sector.

This practical half-day conference aims to provide clarity about the rights of all migrants to access healthcare and to explore how these rights translate into service delivery. Hear the experiences of those who have navigated the system and about the work being done to improve access for all vulnerable migrants.

This will be a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity to learn about migrant rights and to connect with others supporting migrant communities.

Talks on the day include:

HEAR Equality Network on migrant rights to health and social care.

Mind in Harrow's Nedaye Zan project on the experiences of our Afghan women mental health campaigners.

Doctors of the World on research findings into GP access and the impact of government policies including service charges and data sharing.
