This fully-funded training session provided by The Refugee Council aims to help staff better understand mental health and well-being needs of the migrant and asylum-seeker group, and empower staff to recognise and respond to such problems.
This is full day training and will cover the following topics:
- The refugee experience
- Mental health and well-being within a refugee context
- Impact of lived experiences of trauma (war, exile, displacement)
- Main causes of distress
- Signs and symptoms of mental distress: response and risk
- Cultural Factors in assessing mental health and well-being
- Referral routes
- Self-care and professional boundaries
