Event description

Description

WebRoots Democracy (also known as the Institute for Digital Democracy) is hosting a panel discussion in Parliament on Tuesday 10th October to discuss the findings of our latest report, Military Voting: Enhancing access to elections for the armed forces abroad.

The panel discussion will explore the findings and recommendations of the Military Voting report, published over the summer. The report found that many British military personnel posted abroad face a number of restrictions when it comes to taking part in the democratic process.

We hope for the audience to share their own experiences and leave with an understanding of the issues voters in the military face as well as actionable ideas for how we can move beyond these barriers in future.

The event will be taking place on Tuesday 10th October, 6.30pm - 7.30pm, in Committee Room 17, House of Commons.

Speakers:

Areeq Chowdhury - Chief Executive, WebRoots Democracy
Louise Simpson - Policy Director, Army Families Federation
Andrew Colver - Head of Democratic Services, Rushmoor Borough Council
Sonya Anderson - Smartmatic
Capt. James Clark - Former Infantry Officer, 2nd Battallion the Mercian Regiment

Further speakers to be announced.
