'Bluebeard: A Fairytale For Adults'
Let your senses be seduced with the playfully anarchic and darkly enticing world of Bluebeard: A Fairytale for Adults. Based on Charles’s Perrault’s French folk story, it’s a tale of marriage, temptation, and retribution that leads you into a realm where everything yet nothing is as it seems.
Bluebeard premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 2011 to much success, and was nominated for a Total Theatre Award.
Using pedalling to produce power, chains and pulleys to wreak revenge, low-tech gizmos and gadgets and a set of recycled bras and bed sheets, this is a feast of raw entertainment with sensual storytelling at its heart.
Describing the production, Milk Presents’ Lucy Doherty says: “We want to seductively entertain our audience but at the same time explore the notion of a ‘happy ever after’ that is dictated to us in classic fairytales. The show is full of homemade contraptions, OHP animation and the lights are powered by our golden tandem.”
“Milk Presents have reinterpreted Charles Perrault's story of a French nobleman who murders his wives with a compulsive, dark glee.”
