Event description

Description

Guide number: 07982 132231; please contact me if booking has closed - there may still be room!

Craft beer and quinoa; beards, bikes and baristas. If the adjectives 'craft', 'artisan' and 'boutique' are in your daily vocabulary, then this is the tour for you!

In the post-industrial economy of the Nineties and Noughties a new approach appeared. Suddenly to be un-hip was to be hipper than hip as the hipster came to town. Rejecting accepted norms of fashion and interaction, this was an extreme postmodernism.

Inevitably, rejecting fashion norms became a fashion choice in itself, embodied in a new economy which has absorbed the edginess to accommodate a wider audience. But it has also provided the impetus for a new creativity, and the means for creatives to thrive and grow.

So oil your beard, expose your tattoos, and leave your socks in the drawer. Come join me in a trek through Shoreditch, Bethnal Green and Spitalfields to experience the new creative economy.

Please meet me outside the Goose Island brewpub at 222 Shoreditch High Street (just by the southern corner with Great Eastern Street). The nearest stations are Shoreditch High Street (Overground) and Liverpool Street.

We finish our tour approximately two hours later at the Broadgate Development, just by Liverpool Street Station.
