The programme

Just like physical health, we all have mental health which affects how we think, feel, and act. In any given year, one in four of us will experience some kind of problem with our mental health, with research showing that these numbers are even higher for members of the veterinary team. We know that veterinary professionals display higher than average rates of depression and anxiety, and that sadly vets are at an increased risk of suicide.

Do you know about common mental health conditions?

This half day interactive mental health awareness course from the Mind Matters Initiative will help answer these questions and more.

This course is run by Trevor Bell:

Trevor experienced his formative years in the Middle East, where his father worked in the copper mining industry. He’s lived in the North East of England most of his life and is married to Susan. He’s worked for five Government Departments in England before setting up his own training company in 2005.

Trevor cares passionately about Mental Health and destroying the stigma associated with the subject, which he says is a national disgrace. His training company set up in 2005 has taken him all over the country delivering bespoke and off the shelf training programmes to help people and organisations increase their literacy in mental health.

To date he has no “web” presence and gets all his work by referrals from satisfied customers. He is one of the most respected and successful specialist trainers in the country working with an enviable list of clients, which include The John Lewis Partnership, Unilever, The Princes Trust, Procter and Gamble, various Local Authorities, Civil Service Departments, Boots plc He also works with much smaller organisations too.

He is an Associate of Mental Health First Aid England and was invited to the House of Lords in 2014 to receive a special award for the delivery of mental health awareness training and increasing people’s literacy in the subject.
