Headlined by Sanah Ahsan, Y.A, & TStarNay plus Open Mic!

This is our last event before we take our Summer Break. We'll be back in September with our 2nd Birthday party!

Sanah Ahsan

Sanah Ahsan is a queer pakistani muslim womxn. She is a trainee clinical psychologist, spoken word artist, published poet and activist. Her performance journey began with BBC Words First, has taken her to the stage of Shakespeare’s globe theatre, and most recently she won the Outspoken Prize for performance poetry 2019. She works closely with a grassroots organisation called Jawaab in tackling Islamophobia, and her activism has involved collaborating with organisations such as human appeal and childline. She is currently conducting research to deconstruct whiteness within clinical psychology, whilst developing community projects promoting further dialogue around QTIPOC, young people’s mental health, and spaces for queer muslim womxn. She regularly speaks about all these issues on panels across London, and will be doing a TED talk in December on how we can use poetry to rewrite a more compassionate narrative with ourselves.

TStarNay

TStarNay is a dynamic spoken word artist that uses tough personal life experiences to provide social commentary on contemporary issues people are not willing to acknowledge. The artist's work ranges from critiques of social media to popular culture and political climates. When she's not performing poetry, TStarNay is an educator and founder of a social enterprise dedicated to language learning for students from state schools. In the artist own words "many people speak up and stand up but don't keep it up when nobody is looking", explaining the motivation to not just make social critiques but also effect change in her immediate community.

As an artist she challenges some of the most common misconceptions and stereotypes of Asian women and Young mothers.
