Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Tickets available online now: https://mind-over-matter.eventbrite.co.uk/

Mind Over Matter is an evening of Spoken Word and live Hip Hop with the aim of raising money for and awareness around Mental Health.

All ticket proceeds go directly to: 'Mind in the City: Hackney & Waltham Cross'. https://www.mindinhackney.org.uk/

To put your mind at ease, there will no-one walking around all night with donation buckets asking you for money every five minutes. The only expense is the ticket (and the drinks / food you might want). Then, all you need to do is sit back and enjoy an evening of amazing poets and live Hip Hop acts who have all selflessly agreed to give their time and talent for a great cause.

The venue is the incredible 'Globe Theatre' at The Bedford (77 Bedford Hill, Balham, London, SW12 9HD).

The Globe Theatre has played host to legendary gigs from the likes of U2, The Clash and Ed Sheeran. It is also home to the famous Banana Caberet Comedy Club.

Doors open at 6pm. The show starts at 7pm and ends at 10pm (with a couple of short breaks). We have the venue until 11pm (incase we run over) so afterwards feel free to stay and chat, network, drink, whatever you may desire.

Early Bird Tickets are available online now for £5. (limited amount only)

Once all the Early Birds have flown, standard tickets are £6 and available online until 5pm the day of the gig.

Ticket Link: https://mind-over-matter.eventbrite.co.uk/

Tickets on the Door will be £10 so get in there early to save some money!

If you can't make the night but would still like to donate to this worthy cause you can do so on the below Just Giving page.

WANDA: SPOKEN MINDS (Mind in the CIty: Hackney & Waltham Forest / Spoken Word)

Wanda Canton is the incoming Peer Services Manager for Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest.

In November 2016 she founded 'Spoken Minds' delivered for the City and Hackney Wellbeing Network. The group explores the power of spoken word as a tool to enhance Wellbeing and Recovery from mental health difficulties. Spoken Minds celebrates and focuses on the talents and skills of individuals, regardless of diagnoses and champions lived experience as a strength, not a weakness.

As a spoken word artist herself, she advocates performance poetry as a self-reflective practice which enables things to be said so often prohibited in day to day conversation, and using the stage as a space to connect with others. Influenced by grime and jazz, she seeks to find the brutal honesty poetry permits.
