Mind your Career - with Dana Zelicha
Wed 22 March 2017, 18:00 – 19:30 GMT
The Mindfulness movement can now be found in every corner of the organisational world: Google, SAP, Facebook, Intel, Deutsche Bank, McKinsey and even the British Parliament. With all the pressures and distractions in modern society, especially in business, it is very difficult to find the right balance between pursuing long-term professional goals and staying focused, centered and authentic in the short-term.
The key to a Mindful career is to stay grounded, avoid automatic and impulsive behavior, face new challenges with openness and curiosity and balance professional success with more important (but less easily quantified) personal well-being. Recent studies suggest that Mindfulness can help us further our careers, not only by helping us regulate emotions, improve decision-making and reduce stress and exhaustion, but also by reducing hostility and counterproductive work behaviors (such as competitiveness and self-serving actions), which will in turn increase task performance, effective communication, respect to others and personal productivity.
Dana Zelicha is an Organisational Psychologist, Executive Coach and a Lecturer for Mindful Leadership at the IDC Herzliya. Dana specializes in facilitating Mindfulness workshops for employees and students worldwide. Dana is also the founder & CEO of OWBA - The Well Being Agency, a boutique management consultancy, engaging in peak performance of global leaders in today’s fast-paced business environment. Her clients include McKinsey, Citibank and HP. Dana holds MSc in Social and Organisational Psychology from the LSE (London School of Economics), as well as MBA with a concentration in Marketing from IDC Herzliya and BA in Psychology and Management from Ben Gurion University.
In this session, Dana will first talk about how her clients are using Mindfulness to get the edge on the competition by optimising their greatest asset: their talent.
She will then give practical advice for students as they make difficult decisions during this critical point in their lives with regards to their career and studies. Finally, she will guide us through some helpful Mindful exercises, and end with an open Q&A.
