This Mindful Based Living Course (MBLC) programme is based on the Mindfulness curriculum presented on the University of Aberdeen's MSc Studies in Mindfulness. The MBLC was originally developed by Rob Nairn, a former professor of psychology/criminology, who built on historic Buddhist and meditation practices as well as Jon Kabat-Zinn’s work.

This course will cover:

What is mindfulness and why practise it?
Start where we are
The body as a place to stay present
Introducing mindfulness support
Working with distraction
Exploring the undercurrent
Attitude of the observer
Self- acceptance
A mindfulness based life
The programme includes 16 hours of teaching and experiential learning.

Sessions include guided mindfulness practices and teaching by an experienced practitioner. You will be given a course manual, recordings of the practices on an MP3 player and a certificate to confirm completion of the course. There is also an option to have two 1:1 sessions with your course tutor during the 8 weeks to discuss how your mindfulness practice is going.

What our MBLC participants are saying:

" the MBLC course gave me the tools to integrate mindfulness practice and meditation in to my day to day life, personally and professionally. Angie and Raymond are natural facilitators. Warm, knowledgeable and engaging, with their down to earth approach, Angie and Raymond communicate with compassion, humanness and understanding. I learned alot, and had fun. I'd highly recommended this course whether you are just exploring mindfulness or have a practiced it already."

"Doing the Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) with direction has really allowed me to develop my mindfulness practice and helped me to introduce this practice into my everyday life. I found that as the course went on I was more able to engage with my surroundings, to enjoy sounds, colours and flavours differently, and focus more clearly. The course facilitators, Angie and Raymond, provide expert and compassionate tuition - creating a supportive environment for everyone to share their experiences of each practice. I am grateful for the learning and skills I developed from this course and I am looking forward to continuing on my mindfulness journey."
