Event Information
Description
Mindful Eating - an 8 week mindfulness course Oxford, Wednesday evenings from October 8th 2014 to November 26th 2014, 6pm to 8pm.
Includes a half day session Saturday November 15th 2014, 9.30am to 2pm, Kidlington Baptist Church.
This eight week mindfulness course will support participants to understand their eating habits and bring balance and enjoyment to food and eating.
The sessions will include eating exercises, discussion and simple breath and body mindfulness meditations to help us to:
- Step out of automatic pilot when we eat
- Re-connect with our internal signals of hunger and satisfaction
- See clearly our established habits and patterns around food
- Explore how food, mind and body interact
- Cultivate a new, balanced and kind approach to caring for ourselves
Mindfulness and mindful eating is known to help to establish healthy habits, maintain a healthy weight and reduce emotional eating.
The course is suitable for anybody who would like to understand their eating better. It is also a wonderful way to expand your mindfulness practice into new areas if you have previously taken part in another mindfulness course.
Audio recordings and eating exercises for home practice will be provided each week. These are an important part of the course and we suggest allowing 20 to 30 minutes each day throughout.
The course includes a half day extended Saturday session to allow us to step out of the 'doing' and rushing of daily life for a morning of mindfulness practice and to experience a shared mindful meal. This is an integral part of the course - please check your diary before you book.
The course is based on the work of clinician Jan Chozen Bays and mindfulness-based psychotherapist Char Wilkins; you may also like to get a copy of Jan's book to read during the course Mindful Eating: A guide to rediscovering a healthy and joyful relationship with food.
Places are limited to keep the group small.
