About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

The perimenopause and menopause can bring both challenges and an opportunity for personal growth. It is more than just a physical transition - it touches every part of life. From emotional ups and downs, anxiety, and fatigue, to brain fog and changes in how you feel about yourself, this time of life can be overwhelming and isolating.

In this 6-week art course for women going through perimenopause and menopause, Artist and Art Facilitator Jennifer Raingold, invites you into a gentle space which focuses on creating art for wellness. Jennifer aims to create a supportive environment where you can discover art as a tool for wellbeing and self-expression. Rather than a traditional art class which prioritises technical ability and the end product, Mindful Makers encourages focus on the process of making art, slowing down, and engaging the senses. Through guided exploration you will:

  • Centre the mind with grounding and mindful exercises
  • Soothe the nervous system with process-based art activities that promote calm and nurture creativity
  • Enhance concentration and focus as art engages and supports cognitive function
  • Rediscover your creativity in a safe, supportive group of women who understand
  • Learn a new process-art method every week including: mindful drawing; slow-stitching; weaving; making marks with natural materials, and more.

No experience of art-making is necessary; just bring curiosity and a willingness to try something new.

Jennifer Raingold has a background in art and mental health and a passion for supporting wellbeing through creative expression. She has worked in the NHS, charity and museum sectors with individuals facing mental health challenges and chronic health conditions.
