The 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion course runs from Monday 10th October to Monday 28th November and consists of eight weekly sessions on Mondays of 2.30 hours (6.30pm - 9.00pm) with the first week running for 2.45 hours and finishing at 9.15pm. This course comprises a mix of topic exploration, meditation practices, short pen and paper exercises and poetry.
This science based course has been developed by Dr Kristin Neff and Dr Christopher Germer at the San Diego Center for Mindfulnes and has had over 400 peer reviewed journal articles published on it. These studies have strongly linked the Mindful Self-Compassion course to participants wellbeing with:
Reductions in negative mind states, anxiety, stress, depression, rummination, food disorders
Increases in positive mind states, life satisfaction, happiness, connectivness, self-confidence, resilience, optimism, curiosity and gratitude
The course trains participants in the skills of mindfulness, that of present moment non-judgmental awareness and compassion, kindness and self-compassion. This science based program has been empirically demonstarted to promote people's day-to-day wellbeing and provides people with resources and skills to help them manage their daily stresses of modern day living.
