Valuable Self-care or a mere indulgence? Introducing Mindful Self-Compassion
Mindful Self-Compassion is an empirically-supported training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Learn a few core principles and practices that will enable you to start responding to difficult moments in your life with kindness, care, and understanding.
Studies have shown that self-compassion leads to greater emotional resilience and happiness. When we’re compassionate toward ourselves not only are we happier, but we’re also more able to help other people. If you’re a Carer and generally we all have people and animals to care for e.g. parents, partners, children, neighbours, friends, work colleagues, clients, pets etc, then self-compassion can play a particularly important part in supporting you in your caring role. And yet there a number of myths about self-compassion that need debunking; Kate will address these in her presentation.
Jacquie Adams - Partner Beever and Struthers will guide us through a short meditation; With the hectic pace of modern life, people can feel stressed and over-worked. It often feels like there is just not enough time in the day to get everything done. Our stress and tiredness make us unhappy, impatient and frustrated. It can even affect our health. We are often so busy we feel there is no time to stop and meditate! But meditation actually gives you more time by making your mind calmer and more focused. Jacquie will help us to meditate and explain how this can help us to overcome stress and find inner peace and balance.
