Mindful Self-Compassion can tap into some of your greatest strengths and motivational forces.
This powerful combination of mindfulness and self-compassion (MSC) has been practiced in eastern traditions for thousands of years. Recent academic research confirms and explains it's mechanisms.
MSC aims to teach you how to access your resources and lead a more stress-free, confident and happier life, based on 'solid ground' rather than fragile self-esteem.
MSC is like a muscle that can be trained and a skill that aims to give you greater self-control, focus and happiness.
In this unique course you will learn from experienced, qualified instructors, powerful methods that will teach you the focus and power of mindfulness combined with the resilience and positivity of compassion, leading to improved work and personal relationships and stress reduction.
Training is in small groups of 16 participants maximum.

Optional weekend Retreat-day date TBC (exclusively for full-course participants only) from 10am to 3pm (buy a donation ticket) including a mindful and compassionate lunch-break and tea-break.

What is Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)?
and how does MSC differ from Mindfulness?
MSC is Mindfulness and Compassion training, not just simply mindfulness training.
The benefits of mindfulness bring us into a more present state where we are aware of what is happening within ourselves and around us.
MSC takes it a step further, and additionally teaches the core principles and skills that empower us with the tools and knowledge that enables participants to respond more effectively to difficult situations and emotions in their lives and with the same compassion that they would extend to a dear friend.
MSC is an empirically supported, 8-week, training programme. Based on ground breaking research of Kristin Neff, PhD, and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, PhD.
MSC is personal journey that can be learnt by anyone.
Compassion is not so much only an emotion as also a desire or wish to remove suffering. It has an element of action within it.
Self-compassion is not self-pity nor self-indulgence in fact research shows it increase the compassion for others 'muscle' within us.
As Thupten Jinpa states, simply asking this question: "What's the more compassionate option here?" brings the mind into the present moment and trains the brain towards compassionate motivation as a default mode.
Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to admit our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness, forgive ourselves when needed. ]We relate to ourselves and others in a more authentic way.

Latest research shows the proven benefits of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) may safely and effectively improve health by; enhancing emotional wellbeing, building resilience, boosting happiness and reducing anxiety and depression and that these benefits are still sustained one year after the completion of the MSC program.
MSC has also been shown to reduce Care-giver Fatigue and improve work and home relationships.

About the Teachers;
Dan and Jenny have had very different personal journeys but their paths met during their postgraduate Master of Science MSc, in Neuroscience of Mindfulness and it's Clinical Applications at King's College University London.
Following that they both trained to be Mindful Self-Compassion teachers under Professors from Westminster, Bangor, San Diego and Texas Universities by:

the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, Bangor University.

Jenny Sergeant, BA Hons, CPCC, MSc
Following a 20 year corporate career, Jenny qualified as a Certified Coactive Coach with CTI and has spent the last 13 years developing her psycho-educational practice.
She has worked internationally, facilitating the development of emotional intelligence and resilience with over 8,000 individuals and leaders within commerce, health and education.
Jenny developed and introduced the ground breaking ‘Difference is You’ programme with Guys and St Thomas Trust and the ‘All about you’ and Resonant Teachers programmes.
Her Masters research focused on mindfulness and self-compassion in medical students. Her passion is supporting the growth and wellbeing for Leaders, Clinicians and Educators.
Dan Tapsell, PgC, CfPAC, MInstLM, LicAc. MBAcC.
Based in Belgravia SW1,
Dan has over 30 years mindfulness experience as a Buddhist practitioner in both Zen and Tibetan lineages, training for extended periods under authentic teachers.
Dan has also practiced Taoist Acupuncture for 25 years privately and within the NHS, and is a qualified Executive Performance Coach.
Dan’s professional interests include resilience, diversity, disability & inclusion.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required to attend MSC. To insure safety, participants are asked to provide background information when they register for the program.
It is recommended that participants read one or both of following books before or during the program:
