Event description
Please join me for a gentle 1.5-2 hr walk bringing mindful attention to the natural world n the incredible forest landscape.

About this Event

**please note the date of this event has changed to Sun 24 March due to a delay in opening the Three Lochs Drive** please check in on the day in case there is a lastminute closure!**

**please note - the plants haven't sprung just yet in the way I expected so this event will be focused more on walking and indigenous ways of naming and tuning into plants, rather than plant ID***

I will be facilitating mindful walking with basic identification of Scotland's flora in the forest and hills, as well as introducing indigenous practice to feeling into and naming plants. There will also be some mindfulness meditation to tune into the surroundings. This will be a gentle walk, but there will be some incline to the path so please be sure to wear the right footwear and clothing.

LOCATION

You will need transport in the form of a car to attend this walk as Loch Drunkie Forest Carpark is located on the picturesque Three Lochs Forest Drive route which is accessed from the A821 [otherwise known as The Dukes Pass] about 2 miles north of Aberfoyle in Stirlingshire. There is a £2 fee to enter Three Lochs Drive either by card or coin - its a one way track that is accessed from the A821, and the carpark is a 5-10 minute drive from A821. Please meet me at the carpark 5 to 10 minutes before we start. I will be in a red suzuki 4x4 with the name of the group on the window.

WHAT TO BRING...

We will not have any formal meeting space/wet weather cover, so please bring appropriate clothing for all weather - jackets, trousers, hats, gloves, sunscreen. There will be a little gentle uphill walking and it might be muddy so I'd advise sturdy footwear such as trainers or hiking boots. Please bring snacks, food, drinks/water and a hot flask is always a nice idea. You may also wish to bring a notebook.

TOILETS AND FACILITIES...

Toilets are at the Loch Drunkie carpark. It's a 10 minute drive to Aberfoyle or David Marshall lodge where there are food and cafes, however, there will be nowhere to get refreshments near the walk so please bring snacks and hydration.

YOUR HEALTH...

The decision to undertake any physical activity outdoors is your choice and you must use your own judgement; do not undertake any activities you feel will cause you harm. Whilst movement will be gentle, you must have the ability and fitness to move about [walk and stand] in inclement weather, sometimes without sitting for long periods - this walk also will have some incline / small hills so please be prepared for that. The practice is not a therapy for ongoing mental health issues. If you've any concerns, please flag these to Janine and/or speak to your GP or mental health professional.

A LITTLE ABOUT JANINE...

I bring lots of tools to my nature connection classes – mindfulness teaching, ecopsychology learnings and practices based on science [I recently won an award for a BBC programme I co-directed about mental health, which featured a study on the way nature affects cortisol levels in the human body, and thus our stress levels]. I do this work because I love nature, and I think the most important thing is to build relationship with it, if we’re to get ourselves out of this environmental mess, and heal ourselves and our world from the inside out.

COST...

£15
