Mindful Work and Working Mindfully (a joint event with CIMA)
Thursday, 5 May 2016 from 18:30 to 20:30 (BST)
This session will introduce you to mindfulness and how it is being implemented into organisations. Participants will hear from Roz about the work that she has done to introduce mindfulness into corporate organisations, including Experian and Capital One. She will discuss the case study that she and her colleague from Capital One wrote for Margaret Chapman’s forthcoming book, Mindfulness in the Workplace: An evidence-based approach to improving wellbeing and maximising performance. Roz will also share some of her personal experiences of practicing mindfulness and guide you through a range of mindfulness practices to give you a taste of what mindfulness is.
This event will:
- Give you an introduction to mindfulness and enable you to experience different mindfulness practices
- Help you to learn about the potential personal benefits of practicing mindfulness.
- Provide you with the steps that could help you to implement mindfulness into an organisation and the potential benefits for the organisation.
Roz Kings is a chartered occupational psychologist and has over 15 years’ experience of working in the corporate sector. She works closely with public and private organisations to help develop and contribute to their absence management policies and health and wellbeing programs. She has been self-employed for the past 10 years and specializes in working therapeutically with clients who have emotional difficulties including anxiety, depression, phobias and addictions.
Roz is also a qualified mindfulness teacher and she is passionate about sharing her own knowledge, personal experiences and practice of mindfulness to teach others. Her regular practice has taken her on a journey of self-discovery and insight, which has not always been easy but is certainly one of the most valuable journeys that she has been on and continues to take. Roz currently teaches mindfulness courses to employees at Capital One and Experian. She has spent the past three years working with the HR team at Capital One and together they have successfully started to embed mindfulness into the culture of the organisation.
