Many writers through time have been inspired by nature, using techniques such as haiku poetry to communicate a sense of peace and harmony. In this workshop we will visit the nearby St John's Gardens to gather inspiration for writing about natural forms, and explore some basic mindfulness techniques, including meditation.
In combination with short sessions of mindful meditation, and the extra dimension of music, we will enjoy a creative exploration with no pressure involved.
Mindful writing is a not about writing to impress. It is a self-compassionate and non-critical practice where the process is as important as the result. The aim is not to engage with personal stories or narratives but to be 'in the moment', to be immersed in the sensory stimuli and write from that place.
