About this event

I have been practicing informal mindfulness myself and introducing this to my clients for a while now, with some lovely results.

Now it's time to take that a step further with a wonderful 10 week mindfulness course

4 weeks of classes

2 weeks of home practice

4 weeks of classes

This course is designed to reduce stress, bring calmness, improve sleep and help you better cope with anxiety.

Why is Mindfulness Now helpful to you?

This evidence-based approach combines the best of Mindful Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindful Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and is widely used in both clinical and non-clinical settings.

Whether you're looking to maintain your mental health or reconnect with yourself after therapy, this course provides practical tools and lasting insights.

What is included in the 10 week course?

Over the course of the weekly group sessions, we’ll explore:

· Mindful breathing and body awareness

· Understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviour

· Techniques for managing stress, low mood, and anxiety

· Developing kindness and compassion for yourself and others

· Building a regular mindfulness practice you can use in daily life

Each session includes guided meditations, simple movement practices, group discussions, and home practice to support your learning.

Frequently asked questions

Can anyone learn mindfulness?

Yes mindfulness is for everybody. In this course we look at formal mindfulness and how you can bring it into your daily routine. However, after the course you can decide if you wish to continue with your formal practice or use your learning for informal mindfulness.

Do I need to be physically fit for mindfulness?

Mindfulness does involve some gentle movement to help connect your body and mind. You will be asked to complete a health questionnaire and if you, or I , feel there is any concern, I would suggest a chat with your GP before starting. However the movement exercises can be adapted to suit if needed.

How will Mindfulness help anxiety, stress or depression?

I include elements of MBSR, an American initiative to reduce anxiety, stress, chronic pain and illness. Alongside MBCT developed for the UK health service to help patients move away from recurring depression. There are a number of scientific studies to back up the effectiveness and NICE approval.

Do I need any equipment?

Please wear comfortable clothes. In some classes a Yoga mat and cushion may be helpful if you wish to lie down in some of the meditations. But all the mindful exercises we do can be done sitting comfortably in a chair, if that is your preference. It is good to buy a journal for reflective notes.

Is there a religious aspect to the work?

Mindfulness comes from Buddhist roots, and while some of the exercises may include elements of Buddhist practices and traditions, the Mindfulness Now program and teachings are entirely secular. This secular approach remains inclusive by using language and themes familiar to most people.
