Mindfulness 6 week Course

This course comprises the core elements of the internationally recognised Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme combined with compassion and dialogue practices.

6 Monday evenings 7-9pm, Feb 12th, 19th, 26th (break 5th March), March 12th, 19th, 26th

Plus a Practice half day on Sunday 18th March 10am - 2:30pm

COURSE CONTENTS

This course comprises the core elements of the internationally recognised gold standard Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, combined with elements of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and compassion and dialogue practices. The mindfulness practices each week are supported by presentations covering the science of how mindfulness works, with the opportunity for discussion.

Full resources and email support are provided after each session. The course includes:

Deep relaxation

Gentle mindful movement

Sitting meditation

Walking meditation

Some useful practices to embed in day to day living

Mindfulness and the brain explained

Mindfulness in society

Mindful eating

Compassion and dialogue

The practice day offers the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Thames path, a short walking distance from Sandford lock, and to share a mindful meal.

Sandford village hall has recently been refurbished and the village is in a peaceful setting a short distance from Oxford city.

All welcome - no experience necessary, just a commitment to some manageable regular home practice.

Yoga mats available on request. Please wear wam, loose clothing. You are welcome to use a chair or bring a cushion if you prefer.

Part of the fees will fund concessions for those on a low income. If you cannot afford a concessionary place at £ 90 for the course, please email a request for what you can pay with a short explanation of your need.

Tutor: Fiammetta Crucioli

Fiammetta is a wellbeing lecturer with Oxfordshire Adult Learning. She has a broad background in the education sector and is a specialist in resilience and lifecoaching, mental and physical healthcare and research, comparative ethics, careers counselling, anthropology, psychology and Oriental studies. In 2017 she designed and taught innovative courses on building resilience tailored to adults suffering mild to moderate anxiety and depression as part of a Department for Education research project, which were evidenced to be particularly effective in improving wellbeing. She trained on the Teaching Mindfulness Based Approaches Masters at Bangor University in 2009 and has taught mindfulness, completed retreats, theoretical studies and practiced mindfulness in depth with world-renowned teachers over the past decade. Her interest in meditation and yoga started as a teenager and she has seven years of postgraduate research experience in psychological and psychiatric anthropology at the University of Oxford. She is committed to inclusive facilitation.
