Mindfulness 8-Week Course
Event Information
About this Event
Overview
This eight-week course is the official curriculum developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn; the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Programme (MBCT). The course is based on 1.5 hour long sessions which teach mindfulness-based theories and practices to a wide variety of individuals in an online group setting.
Mindfulness and meditation are extremely beneficial in reducing stress, building resilience, and maintaining/improving mental health, amongst many other things. Mindfulness is defined by Jon Kabat-Zinn as “paying attention in a particular way – on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgement.” The course will teach numerous practices that can be utilised by anyone, regardless of religion, culture, or background, and is completely secular. The course is also not only for individuals who may be suffering from such things as anxiety or recovering from depression, but can help anyone cultivate greater awareness of themselves and their environment, gaining more understanding and perspective on thoughts, emotions, and their inner world, and encourages us to transition from ‘doing’ mode to ‘being’ mode. In today’s busy world, these tools and practices can be extremely useful for grounding us in the present moment, minimising our distractions.
This course is suitable for anyone wishing to learn tools and techniques to better look after themselves and their overall well-being. This particular programme is tailored to a smaller group, to allow everyone to feel as comfortable and relaxed with one another as possible. If you have been suffering from any aspect of mental health, please get in touch by dropping me an email or text to arrange a call to discuss the course. 😊
