Why mindfulness a way to compassionately deal with an undiagnosed or diagnosed disorder?

I'm not a religious person but have you ever heard family, a friend, colleague or stranger say that they are blessed? I would say the same for me for having had amazing teachers that were strict and demanding in giving and expecting the highest possible standards of professionalism when it comes to education. They all had a wicked sense of humour so learning was fun. It's odd but I I would never have thought that I would find reading the latest books ad research papers exciting or being anything but useful for going to sleep. But we live in an information age. A weird way to say that I am lazy, yes lazy, I love the idea that there is less hard work when you do the hard work to start with. I like being able to teach and relax knowing that I am reasonably up to date on what I am telling you. That I have checked out the facts for myself and can point you to check out the facts for yourself also.

Having been trained in mindfulness by teachers from Oxford and Aberdeen universities and attended Oxford university for training in mindfulness. For both clinical and non clinical but secular mindfulness. These workshops are suited for anyone who is mental health care professional, anyone in th care profession, and anyone with undiagnosed and diagnosed disorders. The NHS now offers mindfulness exercises with cognitive therapy as an option from their talking therapies.

Being a trauma therapist, and more than likely you are also aware that there are such things as primary disorders, where you experienced trauma directly; ptsd or cptsd. Then secondary disorders where you experience trauma as a secondary experience; vicarious trauma/ptsd and compassion fatigue. That said, it is not the point I want to make, the point I want to make personally is that when I thought about compassion fatigue, people getting clinically burned out from looking after others. I then though can parents get compassion fatigue? Yes! It's called parenting stress fatigue. So Imagine growing up in a house where your parent or parents may or may not have experienced undiagnosed parenting fatigue directly or indirectly, and how others, including you and me, could have indirectly been affected as a secondary cause?

Understanding the clinical context of suffering helps you to personally and professionally be less judgmental, analytical and critical of yourself and others, having a rational and clinical reason to quiet the inner critic, allowing you to be more compassionate towards yourself and others.

Love hurt's!

We've all been in a strugling relationship where we heard or said, 'it's not you, it's me!' Love hurt's, rejection hurt's, when the dream is turning into a nightmare? What can you do? I'm one of the lucky ones, I'm almost 60, and I still talk to ex-gf's from my teens who are still friends, how did I manage that? My ex-wife and her husband are my good friends, and no one would ever believe if they saw us together that I used to be her husband. I've been through marital angst, and relational angsts, I wish I knew then what I knew now. But, I wouldn't be who I am today without those people having been in my life. I'm happily single, truly happily single. But I have never ever felt more in love with life than I do now,do you want to experience that for yourself? I have read, god knows how many books, magazines and articles, listen to cassette tapes, cd's watched dvd's, gone to seminars, tried focus groups and differnt religions. I was always ooking for th answer outside of myself, have you been doing the same? I have helped many people, couples and individuals find their happiness to be able to have a happy relationship with themselves so that they can have happy relationship with others. Come and find out how it is done, you interested?. Trust me, the answer is easier than you think. We live in a world where everyone, you me, your family, friends, colleagues and strangers have been told, that it is ok 'for you or someone else to outsource the responsibility for happiness onto someone else'. Now that might not seem like a bad, thing, but let me ask you this question, 'have you ever spent anytime figuring out what makes you happy without needing somthing material, whithout needing an external object, without needing a person, condition, set of circumstances?' You probably haven't, because if you had you would not be reading this, would you? So let me ask you, your friends, family, colleagues and strangers, 'if you, your family, friends, colleagues and strangers have not spent any time figuring out what makes you happy, how is anyone else supposed to know what makes you happy? How will they or you know what makes you happy if you do not know what makes you happy, because none of you have spent anytime working it out, and only live to expect someone else to figure out for you and if they get it wrong, it's their fault and not yours? How does that actually work, how is that actually fair to you or to anyone else? Mindfulness offers you a key to your internal wisdom, offers you a key to unlock your happiness box, offers you a key to learn from yourself.

I remember when I wanted to date someone and they rejected me, I got pissed off, and stopped talking to them, avoidance behaviour, unconsciously I felt unsafe. With my mindfulness practice, I eventually learned that I too was unfailry outsourcing my own happiness onto another person. When they didn't want the responsibility I got upset. With mindfulness I was able to practice kindness towards myself which allowed me to practice kindness to others. I was able to go back to my friend and apologise for being upset with them. Well, in my words, I apologised for being such a 'dick' for wanting to make her responsible for making me happy when I had not clearly figured out what would make me happy and that I was relying on her to make me happy, Which was totally unfair. We now have a stronger friendship, far better than any relationship, because I still get to love her as my friend for life.

I find it interesting that people, all of us prefer to spend more time looking at Facebook, magazines, books, and videos to learn how to be happy, rather than looking into their own internal world and learning from themselves what they truly need to be happy. Happiness does not come from having the perfect lover, perfect job, perfect house, perfect car, or perfect life. It comes from kindness, compassion, self-love, which leads to universal love, wisdom and happiness.

Teaching experience

I've done my formal training with the National College of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, the Oxford University Centre for Mindfulness, Aberdeen University's Mindfulness Association and at Central Saint Martin's a part of the University of the Arts London where I did an MA in Applied Imaginain in the Creative Industries where my research was on an area of neurology and subliminal messaging. All of the above have conrtibuted to my formal and informl training of secular ciinical and non clinical interventions into mindfulness.

i cannot just teach from theory or research, but also teach from personal experience. In short, mindfulness helped me to become aware of the rubbish that was pollutng my head, creating shitty and dysfunctional behaviour. It has helped me to cope with stuff that thousands of hours of therapy could not and would not have helped me to cope with. I used to hate the idea of meditating, but even that was a part of the experience of learning to cope with my discomforts. It's funny when you think about it, that a lot of people will say they do not have time to meditate, and i get that, I really do. But you do have time to be mindful. Why do I say that then? how difficult can it be to pay attention to the breath? We breath an average of 30,000 times a day. it's not like yo have to make an effort to breath or notice that you are breathing.

I've been a mindfulness teacher in the corporate, NHS, public and voluntary sectors. Mindfulness is for everyone. The thing it did was hep me with my insomnia, I nolonger stay awake for longer than about 15 seconds when I go to bed. As a mindfulness teacher helping people in recovery. I have had two people say to me, 'I didn't realise I had not slept for the past 42 years, since I was 6 years old' and the other person said, 'If I had known this techniques for going to sleep 28 years ago, I would never have used drugs and alcohol to go to sleep'. I'm not making out that going to sleep is easy, there's a good reason why you are not sleeping well. I suffer with sleep apnia, it's a medical condition, I was so exhausted from poor sleep I could not stay awake, but I did have my moments where no matter how tired I was, I could not fall asleep. Now I have used prescribed and herbalist meication as well as self-hypnosis, and psychotherapy to try to get to sleep. For me, they didn't really help, but that was me, it was a combination of meditation and the most simplest of self-sugestions that produced the most powerful effect I know that helped me and many others I have shared it with go to sleep.

Workshops and not courses

I often get asked if I do courses. I can but I choose not to do courses because there are enough people out there doing courses. Wha there is not enugh of is workhops that give peple an opportunity to try mindfulness and explore it's potentional for themselves.

The workshops give you the opportunity to discover that mindfulness can be a clinical intervention aimed at a clinical condition and does not have to be one size fit's all. This is where my practice as an integrative hypno-psychotherapist comes in, as it lets me put together the best of the seperate clinical skillsets I have to address clinically a condition.

Psychotherapy and mindfulness

I'm Psychotherapist , Hypnotherapist, and I specialist in treating trauma, past trauma, post traumatic stress disorder and complex post traumatic stress disorder. What surprises me is that many people, including myself didn't and don't know they are carrying traumatic memories that they have not had closure on and don't realise how these memories are still very subtlety influencing their everyday poersonal and professionally decisions and responses. Mindfulnes observation, being in the moment allowed me to notice my body sensations, train of thoughts and emotions, and eventually to see how they were all interconnected to the past, present and future.

Undiagnosed trauma

I'm constantly telling people to go and get an assessment for their disorder and many do, some get NHS help and others get private help by booking a session wirth me or another therapist. I'm a big fan of EMDR eye movement desensitization reprocessing. I'm not into come and poor your heart out, relive the experience and retraumatise yourself. I trained with one of the UK Council of Psychotherapy's accredited NHS colleges, National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy.

Past Trauma

Trauma, from the past is buried deep within the subconscious, so if it's not on your mind and it's in your subconscious you can't talk about it? As a trainec therapist that specialises with working with the subconscious mind, I'll get to what is bothering you and help you get closure on your past so you are not carrying around emotional baggage that's weighing you down and making your life misrable. I really believe in helping people and I really believe in helping you. So come along and bring a family member, a friend or tell a few people who would benefit about it and lets have a great workshop together. Come and findout the most powerful and influential sentence used in counselling and psychotherapy by my clients and me to change the happiness and wellbeing of our lives.

Vicarious or Secondary Trauma

Did you know that you can get trauma from people around you who have it, they may not know they have it and you may not know they have it but they do. We all can be affected by other people's behaviours, you might be doubting that? Have you ever laughed because someone else was laughing even if you didn't know about it? Have you ever cried or laughed at a movie when there was a sad or happy moment? You see, wasn't happening to you but you responded. Have you ever winced in response to someone describing or seeing someone hurt. These are all responses you were aware of, but what of all the stuff you are picking up that you are not aware of picking up.

Uncnscious bias or Internalised Opression

Can you imagine having invisible dysfunctional behaviour toward yourself and others? It's ok if you said no, because it is invisible, so how would you know? When you become mindfully aware of noticing your responses both behaviourly, emotionally and mentally, then you will see your unconscious bias or internalised oppression. If you have had negative experiences all your life, your mind will, store those experiences a learning points and experiences to be avoided in the future. How can you avoid those negatv experiences? Your senses pick up on triggers which are then processed; compared to past, present and future experiences

Hypnotherapy and mindfulness

A ot of people are scared of hypnotherapy I know I was 'shit scared of it', the thought of someone controllng me and messing around inside of my head, making me quack like a a duck or bark like or dog did not appeal to me. But now that I am a qualified and registered hypnotherapist I know better. At the workshop I will teach you how to use simple sentences that will rock your world. So simple you will ask, why didn't someone tell you this before? They didn't because when the answer is that simple we sometimes look for something more difficult. I won't be teaching you hypnotherapy but I will be giving you statements that will ease your pain and suffering. These statements can be used as coping strategies to change your negative feelings to positive feelings.
