About this event

The course will explore aspects of what is often referred to in psychotherapy and counselling as the Transpersonal.

This includes experience that transcends our normal conscious awareness and often involves personal and relational transformation. Meditational and mindfulness-based practices from ancient and modern sources can provide a practical basis for therapeutic healing and integration.

The basic philosophy behind relevant approaches will be explored, however the emphasis throughout is on the experiential rather than the theoretical.

What are the key benefits?:

  • Integration of meditational and mindfulness practice to personal and therapeutic work
  • Enhanced relaxation and well-being
  • Personal transformation, enlightenment.

Why would I want to do this workshop?:

To explore the life-enhancing benefits of mindfulness and transpersonal therapy.

Meet Robin Collins:

Robin is a long-established counsellor and tutor of counselling based in Exeter. He has been practicing meditation techniques for over 40 years, based both on Western and Eastern approaches, with a particular leaning towards Zen and a strong preference for practical application over theoretical learning.

He originally studied Philosophy and Psychology at his home town University of Liverpool. Before becoming a counsellor, he worked for many years in community media production and broadcasting.

He also taught photography in adult education and video production for people with special needs.

He was a volunteer for the Samaritans for a number of years, which eventually led to seeking a professional qualification in counselling at Iron Mill. The important philosophical questions about meaning, truth, and how to live a good life, remain central to Robin's life and work and he has explored mindfulness and transformational practices from many traditions.

Please note that our CPD events are reviewed 2-weeks before the starting date to ensure minimum attendance is met, if it hasn't, we will be in touch with a refund. Ticket sales will close on Thursday 27th of November at 4pm.
