About this event

🌀 Mindfulness & Automatism: A Guided Drawing Evening

Hosted by Simren Kullar | Hampton Hill

Step into a serene, artful sanctuary thoughtfully designed by Studio Cafe owner Afi, where soft candlelight, floor cushions, and low tables create an inviting oval setting for a truly immersive experience. This unique evening blends mindfulness, creative expression, and community connection in an atmosphere that encourages calm, presence, and joyful creation.

We begin with a gentle guided meditation to ground the mind and body, preparing you for a practice called automatism (also known as automatic drawing)—a technique embraced by Surrealist artists like André Masson and famously used by Salvador Dalí. Automatism encourages spontaneous, intuitive drawing without conscious control or judgement, allowing the hand to move freely and unlock the subconscious. This practice quiets the inner critic, fosters a meditative flow state, and deepens mindfulness by opening pathways to creativity and mental calm.

This is an entirely offline, phone-free session, nurturing a rare space for deep focus and presence.

Using drawing and mixed media, you will explore intuitive mark-making, culminating in the embellishment of your abstract artwork with shimmering gold metallic pastels and textured elements. The end result is a personalized piece of meditative art to take home, one that reflects your unique journey of creative stillness and joy.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned creative, you’ll be welcomed into a warm, candlelit setting designed to hold presence, stillness, and artistic curiosity.
