Event description

Description

We can all experience difficulties, stress or struggles in our life from time to time or on a daily basis… It can be liberating to experience that thoughts are just thoughts… and not ‘you’, or ‘reality’. The MBCT course is developed in a way that assists in learning to take a wider perspective.

“The simple act of recognising your thoughts as thoughts can free you from the distorted reality they often create and allow for more clear-sightedness and a greater sense of manageability in your life.” - Jon Kabat-Zinn

Psychologatthecoast.com offers mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) courses for people living in North Tyneside, Newcastle and around. This is a course for people who would like to practice mindfulness and who are interested in how to take best care of them-selves. The course can help you to be more aware of your mode of mind and can help you in accepting yourself just as you are. People can benefit from mindfulness whether they have a specific problem or not. We all have times in our lives when we experience difficulty, stress and struggle; and for some of us this is our daily experience.

The MBCT programme has been developed to follow a structure, which includes coming to a class once a week for 2 hours throughout the course. During the course you have the benefit of being able to discuss with the teacher how the meditation practice is going. It is this combination of class-led and home-based meditation practice that has been proven to make a difference in people’s life. At the moment there are not many classes available in the healthcare system in the North East.

The classes will run on 8 Wednesdays, 6-8pm, 22 Jan-18 March, break 26 February.

This is a course for everyone who likes to experience the practice of mindfulness and is prepared to be in a group.

If you would like to get a taste of Mindfulness based Cognitive Theraphy and learn something about how our thinking is affecting and interplays with our emotions and our body, you can come to one of the workshops on November 17 (The Wisdom of Fear) and the December 8 (The Grip of Thinking).
